Fun for the entire family
Education Newsletter Feature
Bring your wild ones to meet our wild animals! At Zoo Atlanta, we have many fun, educational programs for families that ignite the senses and connect you to wildlife around the world and in your own backyard. From your tiny trekkers to your more adventurous explorers, you will find programs that engage and excite at any age! Spend a morning with us or stay all night – we are excited about the opportunity to engage your family in conservation action and help create lasting memories.
With Adventure Cubs, take your littlest cubs on an adventure through different animal environments! Children ages 0-5 set off on a morning of adventure and exploration to discover a new habitat each month, including the Asian Forest, African Savanna, and Backyard Georgia. Observe animals from each of these habitats, listen to animal stories, and participate in fun hands-on activities. For every habitat you visit, make an entry in your Adventure Cubs Memory Book.
Looking for fun for the whole family? Join our Nature Play Club and venture over to Grant Park to investigate the environment through inquiry-based play. Develop naturalist skills as you practice observation, sketching, and note-taking. From water to insects to trees, monthly themes will guide exploration and spark new curiosities. Additionally, participants will receive a new item each month to build a Family Naturalist Kit. We look forward to seeing you and your family the third Saturday of the month to get dirty and play with us!
Perhaps you are looking for peaceful reflection and physical relaxation. Family Zoo Yoga is your opportunity to enjoy the quiet of the Zoo before it opens and spend time mimicking the moves of wild animals. Each month will highlight a different species complete with animal-inspired poses. Rashielle Teape, a certified yoga instructor, studied vinsaya yoga and created a yoga program at Zoo Miami before moving to Georgia. Rashielle will guide your family through a tranquil 30 to 40-minute yoga session followed by time with a Zoo Educator learning more about the species of the month.
If you and your family prefer nocturnal adventures, Twilight Trek and Family NightCrawlers will be sure to surprise and delight your senses. As the sun sets for the day, enjoy a Twilight Trek through the Zoo to explore animal areas, learn about Zoo Atlanta’s conservation initiatives, and enjoy engaging activities for the whole family. If you want to go a step further and spend the night, families are invited to explore the Zoo in the evening with a Zoo educator and then fall asleep to the wild sounds of the Zoo. Family NightCrawlers are for children 6 and up with a parent/guardian.
Whether you’re looking for an activity to get your family outdoors, or want time to connect together in a fun and meaningful way, we hope to see you at one of our upcoming Family Programs.
