Panda Updates – Wednesday, June 20

We celebrated all of the Zoo’s animal fathers here on Father’s Day this past Sunday. Yang Yang received all sorts of special enrichment, including themed boxes and “scent-cicles.” He, of course, went straight for the boxes, as he knew there were likely leafeater biscuits inside. After taking a quick bamboo break, he moved on to the scent-cicles which were hanging from the climbing structure. When he couldn’t reach the ice blocks from the ground, he decided his best option was to climb. After he was sufficiently covered in his favorite scents, he happily went back to his bamboo lunch. Hopefully all the fathers out there had a Father’s Day as fun as Yang Yang’s.
