All-new Rhino Wild Encounter

The newest addition to Zoo Atlanta’s suite of unforgettable behind-the-scenes animal experiences is an opportunity on a massive scale. Registration is now available for the all-new Rhino Wild Encounter. The program, which will run on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 1 p.m., offers a chance to meet and feed Mumbles, the southern white rhino at Zoo Atlanta, and learn about his care from a member of the Rhino Care Team. A Zoo Educator will introduce facts about southern white rhinos and their conservation in the wild.

The experience will run with limited capacity, and reservations are required. Find full details about the program or register on the Zoo’s Rhino Wild Encounters page.

The Rhino Wild Encounter is one of several opportunities to take a Zoo visit to the next level with up-close animal experiences. African elephant Wild Encounters are available now, and Lemur Wild Encounters return on April 2. While Zoo Atlanta’s in-person Giant Panda Wild Encounter is not currently available, panda fans can now book a new Virtual Giant Panda Wild Encounter, featuring a virtual tour of The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation Giant Panda Conservation Center, an opportunity to interact with a member of the Panda Care Team, and a chance to view a live training demonstration.

Spring also brings a favorite seasonal experience with the return of giraffe feeding. Giraffe feeding is offered daily, weather-permitting. Learn more about Wild Encounters, giraffe feeding, and virtual experiences on zooatlanta.org. Wild Encounters and giraffe feeding are optional paid experiences.

Zoo Atlanta is open daily with new protocols and procedures in place to promote wellness, including timed ticketing; hand-sanitizing stations throughout grounds; and signage and other aids to encourage social distancing. Masks are required for ages 2 and up for general admission and all in-Zoo experiences. Plan a visit on zooatlanta.org.
