Virtual School’s Out Camp: 2020

When school is out, Camp is in! We are here to engage and excite your young learners ages 7-12 through interactive virtual Camp sessions. These minds-on programs transport your children to the Zoo as we visit animals on grounds, explore biofacts, and observe science experiments and demonstrations, all from the comfort and safety of your home. Campers will learn about the biology and behaviors of amazing creatures, the problems many animals face in the wild, and will discover ways to help wildlife and wild habitats.

Camp sessions are held on the Zoom platform, with engaging post-Camp activities on Seesaw, an online learning management system. Each program includes an online parent meet-and-greet prior to the program (date and time included with registration). Internet access will be required to participate in this program.

November 23-25: Animal Defenses
December 21-23: Predators on the Prowl -
December 28-30: to the Dismay of the Prey!

9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Surviving in the wild is no easy feat, but with the right defense tactics, many animals are able to thrive! Come learn about the different threats wild creatures face and adaptations used to defend themselves. At the end of the week, campers will gain appreciation for some of Earth’s most unique creatures and be ready to seek out ways to help save these species!

From big cats to small invertebrates, predators are some of the most amazing creatures on the planet. Join us as we investigate the extraordinary hunting abilities of these animals, the reasons why they are critical to their environments, and ways we can protect them in their natural homes. This engaging program will have participants looking at these fierce creatures in a whole new way!

Watch out! While not always an easy job, being able to find food and avoid predators is essential for animals to survive. Young scientists will have a blast exploring the clever ways that prey animals outsmart predators. They’ll discover how to be good stewards of the Earth so that we can have a lasting impact on these animals and the habitats they call home.
