Professional Learning at Zoo Atlanta
Professional Learning opportunities at Zoo Atlanta are specifically designed to engage educators in learning activities created to meet the Georgia Standards of Excellence. In our workshops, educators will explore dynamic concepts and topics through science and engineering practices. Each Professional Learning opportunity is created with the intention that educators will not only leave with an enhanced understanding of scientific principles, but also with directly implementable learning activities to bring back to their classrooms.
As science, technology and human understanding of animals and the environment continue to evolve, we at Zoo Atlanta continue to develop and create innovative materials to help educators convey these new concepts in their classrooms. We are in the process of developing a new and exciting set of Professional Learning workshops for fall 2019. In these workshops, educators will learn how to guide their students in meaningful learning experiences that tie natural phenomena directly to the Georgia Standards of Excellence.
In addition to Professional Learning workshops, we are here to support teachers in the classroom with the Cases for Conservation program. Cases for Conservation are teacher toolkits designed to bring unique curriculum and manipulatives to classrooms to enrich instruction. These Cases are specifically designed for Pre-K to 7th grade and include animal biofacts, lesson plans, photographs and various materials selected to connect to standards-based instruction. Cases are free to check out with advanced registration and a $50 refundable deposit.
