CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS AT ZOO ATLANTA

Zoo Atlanta is actively seeking new members of its dynamic and rewarding volunteer force. Individuals passionate about wildlife, conservation, and giving back to the community are encouraged to explore the Zoo’s Adult Volunteer Programs, which now include an all-new Event Volunteer Program.

Event Volunteers are crucial to the success of Zoo Atlanta’s signature events, including but not limited to The Beastly Feast black-tie gala; Boo at the Zoo; and the new IllumiNights at the Zoo: A Chinese Lantern Festival, opening in November 2021. Volunteers facilitate educational activities, offer directional assistance, and assist with many other tasks, all while helping to bring the mission of Zoo Atlanta to people of all ages. Opportunities are available to volunteer at both daytime and evening events.

“For the individual who has both a passion for wildlife and a desire to be a positive influence in the lives of others, volunteering at Zoo Atlanta is an especially meaningful endeavor,” said Raymond B. King, President and CEO. “Serving as an Event Volunteer is an exciting way to get to know us, and the opportunity to have an impact on a special experience for people of all ages is truly gratifying.”

Event Volunteer candidates must complete an online application here on zooatlanta.org. Applications will be screened for completeness and apparent support of the Zoo’s mission; accepted candidates will receive further information on signing up for event shifts.

Serving as an Event Volunteer does not require a high commitment level; however, individuals interested in a long-term relationship with Zoo Atlanta may consider the Zoo’s Adult Volunteer Program. Adult Volunteers greet guests, facilitate personal connections in the petting zoo, support education and conservation programs, and more.

A proud accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), the gold standard for animal care and welfare, Zoo Atlanta has a mission to save wildlife and their habitats through conservation, research, education, and engaging experiences. The Zoo is home to more than 1,000 animals representing more than 200 species from around the world, many of them endangered or critically endangered. Highlights include giant pandas, including Ya Lun and Xi Lun, the only giant panda twins in the U.S.; one of North America’s largest zoological populations of great apes; and a global center of excellence for the care and study of reptiles and amphibians. Recent transformations include the all-new African Savanna, featuring new and expanded habitats for African elephants, giraffes, zebras, ostriches, warthogs, meerkats, and rhinos; Savanna Hall, a state-of-the-art special event destination in the newly restored historic former home of the Atlanta Cyclorama; and the new Arthur M.
