ZOO ATLANTA WILL PROVIDE SAFARI CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MORE THAN 50 children this summer
For the 10th year in a row, Zoo Atlanta is pleased to extend community access to its signature educational camp experience with the return of the Safari Camp Scholarship Program.
The program will provide a week of Camp for more than 50 children ages 5 to 11 in metro Atlanta. In addition to the City of Atlanta and Fulton County, applicable counties of residence include Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Gwinnett, Henry, and Rockdale.
Scholarships are made possible with the support of Cox Enterprises; The Atlanta Foundation; Southwire Company, LLC; and David Markert through the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta’s Extra Wish Program.
April 6, 2026, is the deadline to apply for scholarships for Summer Safari Camp, which will run weekly from May 26 through July 31, 2026.
“We believe every child should have the opportunity to experience wonder in the presence of wildlife. These moments spark curiosity and can inspire a lifelong commitment to caring for wildlife and the natural world,” said Raymond B. King, President and CEO. “We are deeply grateful to the sponsors who have supported this program, not only in advancing the mission of Zoo Atlanta, but in investing in the next generation.”
Safari Camp offers an immersive experience connecting youth to biodiversity with curated Zoo tours; science-based explorations; animal encounters; educational games; a chance to make new friends; and more. Scholarships will include Camp tuition, daily lunch and snacks, a Safari Camp T-shirt, and an extended care option. To qualify, children must be current residents of the City of Atlanta or one of the qualifying counties and be enrolled in a free or reduced meal program at their school.
