ZOO ATLANTA LAUNCHES VIRTUAL ART GONE WILD
Zoo Atlanta has partnered with Sips n Strokes to offer an interactive experience that people of all ages and all levels of artistic inclination can enjoy virtually while channeling the inspirations of wildlife and supporting conservation. The program begins on Wednesday, August 26, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Each class will include a special introduction from Zoo Atlanta and an opportunity for a step-by-step guide through a wildlife-inspired project with Sips n Strokes studio artists. Reservations include an exclusive Zoom link, emailed on the day of class, and an art kit including all supplies needed to complete the featured painting.
This month, Zoo Atlanta celebrates the legacy of Ivan the western lowland gorilla, who inspired the book and film “The One and Only Ivan,” and the 18 years Ivan spent at Zoo Atlanta, with a gorilla-inspired painting.
Advance registrations are required and are available here on zooatlanta.org. Registration ends at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25. Art kits, which include a sketched canvas, new brushes, paint, and instructions, are included with registration, and may be picked up curbside at any Sips n Strokes location.
While Art Gone Wild is a virtual event, Zoo Atlanta is open daily with new protocols and procedures in place to promote wellness and prevent the spread of COVID-19. These include timed ticketing (tickets must be purchased online in advance); a one-way experience through the Zoo; hand-sanitizing stations throughout grounds; and signage and other aids to encourage social distancing. Masks are currently required for general admission for all guests over the age of 10. Learn more or plan a visit on zooatlanta.org.
