Welcome back to school!

Whether you are participating in virtual learning, in-person learning or a combination, we at Zoo Atlanta want to welcome you back to a new school year! The start of every school year can be exciting and even a bit nerve-wracking; however, this year is likely to be surrounded by a bit more uncertainty as we all navigate the pandemic and the transition to virtual and blended virtual learning models.

As you plot your course for what virtual learning means for you and your students, we at Zoo Atlanta are here to support your educational needs.  We have developed a variety of online resources to compliment your curriculum through our Learn at Home Page. In addition, we are offering a variety of standards-aligned Virtual Field Trips that will tie your curriculum to the natural phenomena happening at Zoo Atlanta.

Our Learn at Home Page outlines several activities that students can do at home, such as read-alongs, virtual Zoo tours, and much more! These activities were created to be able to be both standalone activities, as well as have the ability to connect to the science principles being taught in the classroom.

Additionally, we have been able to adapt many of our in-person learning experiences into live, interactive, virtual programs that engage students and create connections between curriculum and the animals who call Zoo Atlanta home. We have three different types of virtual programs: Virtual Classroom Chats, Virtual Wild Walks and Virtual Zoo Exploration. Topics for these programs range from animal adaptations, research at the Zoo, Georgia’s Regions and many more!

Keep an eye out for our 2020-2021 School Programs Guide that outlines all the ways in which Zoo Atlanta can support virtual learning in your classroom!
