Panda Updates – Monday, March 22

Hello! My name is Trish, and this is my first post as the newest member of the Panda Care Team at Zoo Atlanta! I came from the Smithsonian National Zoo, where I cared for two adult giant pandas Tian Tian and Mei Xiang, and their newborn cub Xiao Qi Ji. I also took care of Jackie the red panda before he came to Zoo Atlanta. It’s been a fun reunion working with him again.

So far, my favorite part of my new job has been getting to know and watch the giant panda twins, Ya Lun and Xi Lun. They are absolutely wild when they play together, chasing each other, hanging upside down from structures, and tumbling around their enclosures. It’s not often you get to see a panda run, so it’s a real treat to watch these two. They make the work day fun and always bring a smile to my face.
