ZOO ATLANTA CELEBRATES LEARNING, SCIENCE, AND MORE ON MARCH 14
Educator Appreciation Day offers free admission for educators; Biomechanics Day invites people of all ages to explore the amazing world of bioinspired design
WHAT: Learning, science, and discovery are themes of an activity-packed day at Educator Appreciation Day and Biomechanics Day on Saturday, March 14, 2026, with two special events highlighting the role of Zoo Atlanta and partners as educators beyond the classroom.
Educator Appreciation Day: Educators enjoy free admission and $5 off general admission for up to four family members or guests. Educators receive additional discounts around the Zoo and are encouraged to visit a variety of booths to meet Zoo team members and learn about the Zoo’s educational programming, teacher professional development, and more. Booths will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Educator Appreciation Day discounts are valid only on Saturday, March 14, 2026, and apply to active teachers; local and out-of-state educators; informal educators; and administrative support staff. Educators must present a valid educator ID or relevant documentation and a photo ID to redeem the discounts. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, with same-day registration available at the Educator Check-in across from Zoo Admission on the day of the event.
Biomechanics Day: Animals in Motion: Zoo Atlanta is proud to contribute to the 2026 Atlanta Science Festival with Biomechanics Day: Animals in Motion. With help from experts from the Georgia Institute of Technology and other universities, guests of all ages can participate in live demonstrations highlighting human and non-human biomechanics and will explore the origins of adaptations from the animal kingdom that have inspired real-world applications in bioinspired design. Activities will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are free for Zoo Atlanta Members and children under 3; free with general admission.

ABOUT: About Zoo Atlanta
A proud accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), the gold standard for animal care and welfare, Zoo Atlanta has a mission to save wildlife and their habitats through conservation, research, education, and engaging experiences. The Zoo is home to hundreds of animals representing more than 200 species from around the world, many of them endangered or critically endangered. Highlights include a transformed African Savanna featuring expanded habitats for African elephants, giraffes, zebras, ostrich, warthogs, meerkats, and rhinos; one of North America’s largest populations of great apes; and a global center of excellence for the care and study of reptiles and amphibians. Recent transformations include a newly updated African lion complex, opened in April 2025, and the state-of-the-art Rollins Animal Health Center, completed in 2024.
