Panda updates – Monday, September 21

With the cooler weather we have been able to give the giant pandas more frequent access to their outdoor habitats. Giant pandas’ thick and dense fur makes the Georgia summer heat and humidity a little too steamy for them to be comfortable. We’ve also been giving the giant pandas more frequent access to the habitats when it’s raining, as well. They still have access to an indoor dayroom or behind-the-scenes area, but this way the pandas can choose if they’d like to explore in the rain or spend their time inside. On a particularly cool but sunny day last week, Yang Yang was being very playful so we grabbed the bubble machine and had fun watching him chase the bubbles around while soliciting attention from his Care Team. Such a goof!
