Panda Updates – Monday, February 24

Today was a rainy day here at the Zoo. The giant pandas don’t particularly like being out in the rain, so on days like this we utilize both of our dayrooms and our behind-the-scenes den spaces. Lun Lun enjoyed eating her bamboo while sitting in the hammock in one of the dayrooms and then she took a short nap in the afternoon. Yang Yang spent time in our other dayroom, making sure his constant requests for more river cane and yellow groove were being fulfilled by peering at the Panda Care Team through the window as we would walk by. As the rain started to lighten up, we also gave Ya Lun and Xi Lun the option of having all three den spaces as well as having access to one of outdoor habitats. Ya Lun ventured out a few times but both girls ended up spending a good amount of time eating and napping behind-the-scenes. Having Ya Lun and Xi Lun behind-the-scenes allowed for keeper Danica to do a training session with both of them too! They both did a great job!
