Just Jackie being adorable on one of his habitat logs …

Although red pandas are arboreal and spend the majority of their time up high and in the trees, Jackie often likes to come down and greet his care team when we bring him breakfast first thing in the morning. Sometimes Jackie is right at the entrance door ready to say hello, so keepers ask him to “station” on a nearby log. This allows us to enter the habitat safely. Stationing is a basic positive reinforcement training behavior that Jackie has known for most of his life; he does this behavior on request and is stellar at it. He then gets reinforced with his favorite diet items such as apples and grapes. (Photo: Trish J.)
