Panda Updates – Friday, September 22
If you’ve been following our panda family for a number of years, you may remember that at least one of our singleton cubs was known for destroying enrichment, or at least being the proverbial fly that broke the camel’s back. It seems that Ya Lun is following in her older brother’s footsteps. On Sunday we had to retire the beloved hammock from the dayroom after it sprung a Ya Lun-sized hole in it. It sure is cute to watch the pandas climb through the hammock, but it also poses a potential safety concern that we take quite seriously. It will have to be repaired by keepers, which is no easy feat. Please *bear* with us until we can get it repaired and rehung. Silly Ya Lun. There’s never a dull moment in PandaLand!
Oh – and here’s an “after” photo of the culprit!
