Panda Updates – Friday, February 18

If you are familiar with Jackie’s habitat, you may know that he has a box to hang out in that is air-conditioned. This helps him during the warmer months to have a place that is cool to move to. However, now that it has been much colder than Georgia summers are, a common misconception about that box is that it is also heated. This is actually not the case. Red pandas are very well-suited to cold weather and thrive in these temperatures. He does, however, have a nest box in his behind-the-scenes area that has a heater built into it, so he does have a nice warm place to hang out in if he chooses to.
