Panda Updates – Friday, August 28

During the summer, the giant pandas spend time in our climate-controlled dayrooms and behind-the-scenes den spaces, but recently we had some cooler mornings, which meant that the Panda Care Team was able to give the pandas access to the outdoor habitats. Having the option to use the outdoor habitats was nice because it meant we could change up their environment by moving them to a space that we haven’t been able to use in a while. Last week, Danica and I decided to provide Yang Yang the option of having access to both a dayroom and one of the outdoor habitats. He spent a good amount of time outside foraging for leafeater biscuits, hanging out on the structure, walking around, and investigating new smells, before deciding to come back into the dayroom to eat some yellow groove bamboo before taking a long nap.
