Panda Updates – Friday, April 14

As you watch the panda cubs either at the Zoo or on PandaCam, you may catch them chewing on bamboo or, if they are really lucky, on one of their momma’s biscuits. The girls are not ingesting solid food yet, but as all babies do, they are beginning to explore their environment and are learning from Lun Lun what is edible. It will be a few months more before they are actually taking in solid foods as a true food source, and even then, they will still also be nursing. Right now food items are a fun play item to investigate and explore. In the meantime, our hardworking bamboo harvesting team is bracing themselves for when they need to begin supplying bamboo for four hungry bears. There’s no rest for the Zoo team!
