Listening in on tiger calls
If you’re ever here at Zoo Atlanta, there might be a chance that you may hear one of the tigers calling out. This calling is a natural way tigers have of communicating with each other in order to find a mate and or to let others know who is around.
With that being said, throughout the day you might catch a glimpse at both Bob and Buttercup, but not both tigers on habitat at the same time. Tigers are solitary by nature, and you will rarely see them together unless it is for mating or if it is a mother with her cubs. Here at the Zoo, we like to maintain this natural behavior, so one tiger will be on habitat at a time. We will often leave one of the tiger shift doors open so that they can see and hear each other during the day. Due to this, guests may hear some grumbling or chatting between the tigers. This is their way of communicating and getting conformable with being near one another.
