Megan Watson, DVM
Dr. Megan Watson has been an Associate Veterinarian at Zoo Atlanta since 2019. She is a Board Certified Specialist in Zoological MedicineTM and an adjunct assistant professor in Zoological Medicine at the University of Georgia.
Dr. Watson graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Biochemistry. She went on to receive her D.V.M. at the University of Illinois. As a veterinary student, she completed a student preceptorship here at Zoo Atlanta! After graduating, Megan completed a small animal rotating internship at the University of Georgia, followed by a zoological medicine internship at Colorado State University.
Megan went on to obtain a M.S. in Clinical Epidemiology back at the University of Illinois before completing the Illinois Zoological and Aquatic Animal Medicine Residency Program through the University of Illinois, Chicago Zoological Society’s Brookfield Zoo, and the John G. Shedd Aquarium. During her residency, Megan published on several topics including effects of ultraviolet B radiation and vitamin D metabolism in various species, macropod anesthesia, blood pressure, and pharmacokinetics, as well as a health assessment of seabirds in Peru.MORE ZOO EXPERTS
