Grossology Day

July 13

Turning “eww” into “wow!” on Grossology Day

10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Find out the scoop on animal poop, the details of disgusting diets, and more during our fourth annual Grossology Day at Zoo Atlanta!

We will be exploring the purpose of animal behaviors that many think of as gross, but that help animals to survive and fulfill their roles in the ecosystem. As you explore the Zoo, check out activity stations, games, and more as we celebrate some of the less appreciated aspects of nature.

During Grossology Day you can:

  • Discover the amazing uses of poop in the animal kingdom.
  • Learn about animal defenses that may make some go “eww”!
  • Investigate bird diets through owl pellet dissection demos and scavenging like a vulture.
  • Embrace your inner creepy-crawly self and design your own insect.
  • Meet ambassador animals and find a new appreciation for some of our favorite (and not so favorite) animals.
  • Enjoy a Grossology Day-themed Animal Tales: An Interactive Storybook Reading.
  • Become a “grossologist” while exploring the Zoo on your own using this special Zoo Seekers Self-Guided sheet.
  • …and more!

Stations can be found on Tembo Trek and along the Main Spine. Activities are free for Zoo Atlanta Members and children under 3; free with general admission.
