Giraffe Feeding FAQs:
When can I feed the giraffes?
Giraffe feeding times are from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., Friday through Sunday.
Where can I purchase a ticket for giraffe feeding?
Giraffe feeding tickets can be purchased at the tent on Twiga Terrace. Participants will receive a numbered ticket to indicate their place in line. When a guest’s number comes up on the board, they should report to the gate for their feeding. At this time, we are only accepting credit and debit card transactions.
How much does it cost to feed the giraffes?
The cost is $3 for two pieces of romaine lettuce, which must be purchased at the tent stationed on Twiga Terrace.
Is this experience available year-round?
Giraffe feeding will not be available when daily temperatures are too cold for giraffes to be in their outdoor habitat for much of the day. Giraffe feeding may also be closed on days when it is raining or has rained heavily over the past 48 hours.
What will I be feeding the giraffes?
Guests will be feeding the giraffes romaine lettuce, a regular part of their diet.
Can I bring my own food from home to feed the giraffes?
No. The giraffes are on a diet that is carefully monitored and approved by the Zoo Atlanta Veterinary Team; for the safety of the animals, guests are asked not to offer any other food items.
Can my children participate?
Yes, but masks are required for all participants who are 2 years old or above. Close parental supervision is required for children under 8 years old.
What if the giraffes won’t come over to eat?
The giraffes are wild animals, and their participation is voluntary. Their appetites may vary, and there is no guarantee that they will eat.
Can I pet the giraffes?
No; guests may not touch the animals.
Can I purchase giraffe feeding in advance of my visit?
