Panda Updates- Monday, October 10

We are slowly starting to see some of those cooler temperatures many of us look forward to with the arrival of fall. This means that soon, the giant pandas will be spending more time in their outdoor habitats. Being native to a cool climate, they do not go into these habitats if the temperature exceeds 75 degrees. Year-round, however, they are able to stay in their climate-controlled dayroom habitats and our other indoor areas where the temperature is always just right for them (around 65 degrees). With fall sneaking up on us, the Panda Care Team has been spending some time cleaning up and making sure those habitats are ready to go, as it has been a few months since the pandas have used them. Be sure to keep an eye out (literally, an eye outside) for the pandas soon! If you are unable to see them in person, check PandaCam in the coming weeks to see if you can catch the bears enjoying some cool fresh air.
