Rebecca Young
Curator of Ambassador Animals
Becky’s background features work with a variety of birds and both terrestrial and marine mammals. Her ambassador animal experience includes positions at Steve Martin’s Natural Encounters, Inc., in Orlando, Fla., and Six Flags Great Adventure & Wild Safari in Jackson, N.J. She has also served as an animal training consultant at the Dallas Zoo and at the Center for Great Apes in Watchula, Florida.
Becky has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Miami and a Master of Science degree in Primate Conservation from Oxford Brookes University in Oxford, U.K. She serves several leadership roles within AZA community including being the Rodent Taxon Advisory Group Chair, serving on the steering committee for the Animal Ambassador Scientific Advisory Group, serving as a general member of the behavioral Scientific Advisory Group, and volunteering as an AZA site inspector at other zoos looking to get accreditation. Becky also serves as the chair of Zoo Atlanta’s Behavioral Management Committee.
