Spend Mother’s Day at Zoo Atlanta
Mothers enjoy free admission on May 13.
Zoo Atlanta celebrates mothers of all species on Mother’s Day. On Sunday, May 13, 2018, mothers enjoy free admission with purchase of any regularly-priced child’s or adult’s general admission ticket.
The Zoo also celebrates a special birthday this Mother’s Day: Madu the Sumatran orangutan turns 35 on May 13. Although she has had no biological offspring of her own, Madu has adopted and reared a total of four orangutan youngsters, the youngest of whom is 3-year-old Keju. Madu and her group will enjoy birthday surprises at 2:30 p.m. at Orangutan Habitat Two.
In addition to Madu, some of the Zoo’s other animal mothers, including Lami and Adanna the Angolan colobus monkeys, Jill the Schmidt’s guenon, Chelsea the Sumatran tiger and Lun Lun the giant panda, will find Mother’s Day surprises in their habitats. Mother’s Day is one of many annual spotlights on Zoo Atlanta’s robust animal enrichment program, in place for all species year-round. Enrichment, which may take the form of objects, novel foods or activities, is designed to stimulate animals’ natural behaviors while promoting their well-being. Click here for a list of animal activity times.
The Mother’s Day discount is valid only on Sunday, May 13, 2018, and may not be combined with any other discount. Mothers do not require a ticket if accompanied by a child or adult with a regularly-priced ticket, which may be purchased online at or at Zoo Atlanta Admissions.
Zoo Atlanta Members, who already enjoy free admission year-round, may also treat mothers to a Zoo day on Mother’s Day. Members may bring up to two mothers at no charge, provided mothers are accompanied by an individual named on the Membership.
