Preceptorship Program

Veterinary Student Preceptorship Program:

The program is designed for veterinary students who have completed their third year and is intended for them to become more familiar with the practice of zoo veterinary medicine. The minimum period required is six weeks. Students are required to complete a project of their choosing during the six-week period. This is a volunteer program; no stipend is available. 

Veterinary Technician Student Preceptorship:

The program is designed for veterinary technician students in their final year of an accredited program who wish to acquire experience working in a clinical setting with a zoological population. The program will offer hands–on opportunities to work with a wide range of species. The preceptorship must be part of the required curriculum and count toward graduation credits. This program is voluntary, and no stipend or housing is available. Dates and durations of the preceptorship are flexible; however, a minimum of six weeks of 40-hours/week is required.
