It is not just humans who can have complex relationships! Many animals rely on others from their same species (or other species!) to survive and make their lives a little easier. Join us this semester as we take a look at some of the friendships and mutual relationships found both in the wild and in zoos.

Register K-2 grade

The WILD just doesn't stop! This semester we will explore how life uses extreme adaptations to survive and thrive in even more extreme environments. From how some species protect themselves to how others find their food, join us each month as we investigate and examine some of the most unique ways animals survive.

Register for 3-5 grade

Reptiles might just seem like creepy, crawly critters to you, but they are so much more! This semester, we will be taking a deep dive into what makes a reptile. Why do some lizards not have legs? Are tortoises a type of turtle? Answer these questions and more as we focus on different reptiles each month.

Register 6-8 grade

Whether we want to admit it or not, humans play a huge role within the ecosystem and interact with animals in different ways. This semester, we will break down some of those interactions as we focus on ways humans benefit from animals, ways animals benefit from humans, ways we conflict, and what we might be able to do about it.

Register for 9-12 grade

PARTICIPANT SAFETY POLICIES

  • We ask all participants to stay home if they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or if they have been in contact with a COVID-positive individual in the past 2 weeks.

DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP

  • Drop-off and pick-up will occur via the Education Conservation Gate of the Zoo.
  • The Education Conservation Gate is located in the south (right-hand) corner of the Cherokee Avenue parking lot.
  • At drop-off, parents will be given a printed check-out number for their children, which is required of anyone picking up your child. Please place this number on a visible part of your car’s dashboard during check-out. For your child’s safety, we will not release your child unless the appropriate check-out number is provided at check-out. If your child will be picked up by someone else, the number can be written on a piece of paper and be presented at check-out.
  • Students must be dropped off and picked-up by a parent or guardian.
  • Procedures for Pick-up and Drop-off:
    • Enter the Cherokee Avenue parking lot at the stoplight at the intersection of Cherokee Avenue and Georgia Avenue. Go down the hill and veer right immediately before you reach the first building (do not enter the roundabout). From there, pass the buildings on your left and drive along the lower fence line to the “Education Conservation” Gate, entering the queue for both drop-off and check-out.
    • At drop-off, an instructor will greet your child and help him/her from the car. Do not drop off a child without checking in properly with the Education Team.
    • During check-out, a staff member will relay the Check-Out Number from your dashboard to the educators to prepare your child for check-out.
    • For the safety of children, parents, and staff, please remain in your vehicle during drop-off and pick-up.
    • Participants arriving late must use the call box outside the Education Conservation Gate to call Security.
    • If you choose to stay on Zoo grounds, paid parking is conveniently located in the lot on Cherokee Avenue and in the new Grant Park Gateway parking facility on Boulevard. These are public parking lots and are owned by the City of Atlanta and managed by AAA Parking. Rates are $3 an hour for a maximum of $12 a day.
