Celebrate Father’s Day At Zoo Atlanta
Celebrate all things Dad this Father’s Day at Zoo Atlanta! On Sunday, June 19, fathers receive FREE admission with the purchase of any regularly-priced child’s or adult’s general admission ticket. The offer is valid online on zooatlanta.org and in person at Zoo Atlanta Admissions.
A highlight of the event will be a birthday celebration for one of the Zoo’s most beloved patriarchs, Ozzie the western lowland gorilla. At 55, Ozzie is currently the oldest living male gorilla in the world. A pioneer of the Zoo’s landmark Ford African Rain Forest, Ozzie is a father, grandfather and great-grandfather with descendants at Zoo Atlanta and at accredited zoos around the U.S. Wish Ozzie well at 10 a.m.
Meanwhile, animal fathers around the Zoo – from Yang Yang the giant panda to Benny the Sumatran orangutan to Prince the meerkat – will enjoy special themed enrichment throughout the day. Father’s Day is one of Zoo Atlanta’s many annual showcases of its robust animal enrichment program, in place for all species year-round. Enrichment, which may take the form of puzzles, novel foods, new sights or sounds, or training activities, is designed to stimulate animals’ natural behaviors while promoting their wellbeing. Check the Zoo Atlanta map for a listing of times and locations.
The Father’s Day discount is valid only on Sunday, June 19, 2016, and may not be combined with any other offer or promotion. Visit zooatlanta.org for more event details.

Viewed as one of the finest zoological institutions in the U.S. and a proud accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), Zoo Atlanta has a mission to inspire value and preservation of wildlife through a unique mix of education and outdoor family experiences. From well-known native wildlife to critically endangered species on the brink of extinction, the Zoo offers memorable close encounters with more than 1,000 animals from around the world. The Zoo’s newest destination, Scaly Slimy Spectacular: The Amphibian and Reptile Experience, featuring 60 species in a 111,000 square-foot complex, opened in April 2015. Zoo collection highlights include Mei Lun and Mei Huan, the only giant panda twins in the U.S.; North America’s largest zoological collection of great apes; and a global center of excellence for the care and study of reptiles and amphibians. Up-close-and-personal animal experiences include behind-the-scenes Wild Encounters with African elephants, Aldabra giant tortoises, giant pandas, Sumatran tigers and warthogs.
