Come to Zoo Atlanta this fall and learn how you can develop inquiry-based thinking skills in your students at any age.  These grade-focused programs will take each teacher participant through the design, implementation and planning process of science-based research.  Space is limited! Grades K-2

Looking to focus your students’ curiosity in a scientific way? Join us as we learn how to make observations and ask questions about the world around us. This workshop will include insight into research at Zoo Atlanta, firsthand experience modifying the scientific method for young students, and curriculum to incorporate back in the classroom.

  • DATE: November 4, 2017
  • TIME: 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • COST: Scholarship covers workshop for 30 participants; $10 fee covers lunch
  • Must be a K-2 formal, classroom teacher to register

Grades 3-5

Put a spin on the scientific method with Zoo Atlanta! Learn how research is incorporated into Zoo Atlanta’s mission, and get hands-on experience in designing and conducting a behavioral research project! This workshop will also include curriculum to implement in the classroom and ideas on how to bring real-world research into the classroom.

  • DATE: November 11, 2017
  • TIME: 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • COST: Scholarship covers workshop for 35 participants; $10 fee covers lunch
  • Must be a 3-5 formal, classroom teacher to register

Grades 6-8

We’re going beyond the textbook in a hands-on exploration of scientific research! Explore how Zoo Atlanta is involved in research, learn how to design and conduct behavioral research, and discover new ways to bring research into your classroom. This workshop will also include curriculum to incorporate back in the classroom.

  • DATE: November 18, 2017
  • TIME: 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • COST: Scholarship covers workshop for 30 participants; $10 fee covers lunch
  • Must be a 6-8 formal, classroom teacher to register

Grades 9-12

Interested in engaging your students with real-world animal research? Go beyond the textbook with hands-on experience conducting behavioral research. This workshop will also include curriculum to implement in the classroom and ideas on how to bring real-world research into the classroom.

  • COST: Scholarship covers workshop for 30 participants; $10 fee covers lunch
  • Must be a 9-12 formal, classroom teacher to register
