Eastern Bongo

Eastern Bongo

Eastern bongos are large antelopes of the deep rainforest. They are shy and very difficult to observe in their native habitat, despite their large size. Overhunting for sport trophies, subsistence hunting and the bushmeat trade have reduced or eliminated populations in most areas that remain forested.

These large antelopes are usually easy to observe, although they tend to be shy and are often well-camouflaged. On colder days, they generally spend time in their heated indoor areas.
